Integrated Health Insurance Management System

Under NDA

The Integrated Health Insurance Management System (IHIMS) is an elaborate, B2B project conceived to solve a critical challenge faced by Nigeria's largest health insurance company - Defence Health Maintenance Limited (DHML). The company provides insurance cover to greater than 120,000 clients accessing care in about 800 different hospitals. The solution integrated staff management, client enrollment, hospital onboarding and insurance administration.

Scenario

DHML had 3 separate solutions for managing client onboarding, accounting services and reporting. The apps were made with different technologies, could not interoperate and were buggy. After many unsuccessful attempt at resolving the challenges which grossly affected data quality, my employer (Erregen Global Services) was engaged in November 2020 to access the systems. I was subsequently appointed to lead the process.

After a thorough audit of the apps and data, it was decided that a new integrated system should be developed.

My Role

In the project, I played the following roles:

  • Digital Transformation Lead

  • UX Research Lead

  • UX Design Team Lead

  • Change Management

  • Primary Contact/Project Liaison

The new solution integrated all the core functions of the organization to create an end-to-end solution for onboarding, managing and reporting patients data by DHML.

Design was guided by data from multiple usability studies conducted during the 9 month duration of the project.

Outcomes

The first module of the new IHIMS which put into use in February 2021 helped the organization reduce the cost of coverage by 20% for its largest group of clients. Other impacts of the integrated solution which was completed in August 2020 cannot be disclosed on this portfolio per the NDA.

"Your design went beyond my expectations to address process issues that has simplified many of my tasks".
